A-tisket, A-tasket…

I want a new basket? haha no, I just couldn’t think of a good title today.

I’ll be completely honest, I’m feeling a little lonely today. Maybe even emo lonely? Who knows. I don’t know what else to say about that. It’s just, weird. But we all know how I get into those modes every once in awhile, it’ll pass. I only wish I could have been with someone for the holidays, I mean a boyfriend not just dates. (Don’t get me wrong, the dates have been a blast!) Oh my, look at me! I’m just pitiful! Depressing sight if I do say so myself.

About water being shut off, it sucks. I was planing on giving Jewel a bath today because she’s stinky and dirty. She’s discovered digging and that just makes her more stinky and dirty as days go by. I can’t really cook anything on the stove that involves boiling water unless I use the water from the water cooler (Not really that big of a problem, actually…but some people don’t have water coolers!). I guess what I’ll have to do is wait until tomorrow to wash her.

I saw Avatar yesterday in 3D Imax. It was stunning and very long. The line to get in was nuts! I haven’t been in a line like that for a movie since I used to go to midnight showings of Harry Potter. Anywho, I really enjoyed it as well as my company that night. I won’t say much more about it just so it’ll stay a nice memory of a crazy adventure. I only wish I had taken a picture of myself with those crazy 3D goggles! Now that would be entertainment! ;)

My friend Lisa turned me onto a musical pantomime group called Steam Powered Giraffe. If you haven’t heard of them, look them up on YouTube.com or something, they’re pretty amazing! They’re very steam punk for sure. I know a few people who are into the whole steam punk scene so it’s quite neat to see this group.

Remember friends, lemons can be made tastey, don’t take them for just being sour! (Take that however you want, hah)

In all seriousness

“I say my hell is the closet I’m stuck inside, can’t see the light.”

—Dave Matthews Band

I like that song “So Much To Say”. Actually I find I like pretty much anything Dave Matthews these days.

It’s been awhile I’m aware. Finally moved in and such, failed two classes, not sure about French, probably an A since my friend got a B and she wasn’t doing as well as I was. I have a hold on my academic nonsense, can’t register until it’s paid, and I can’t pay for it online (naturally) so I have to go to school and pay for it. Damn $15 that is causing me to wait to register for a limited amount of classes! (I probably won’t get any classes unfortunately)

I’m probably the last to figure this out, but my first boyfriend (and my first ex at that) is unsurprisingly engaged. It feels kind of strange. I’m happy for his happyness but it still feels weird. Congratulations to you both!

As for news for me, I performed an odd social experiment over the last 2 weeks to see if I can meet people on craigslist. So far, I’ve met one person, meeting one today that I’m quite hopeful about, and the third I’m schedualed for a date on Saturday next weekend. It’s pretty exciting and definately an ego boost as I’ve grown up a lot since my high school years and first couple years as a 20 something. It’s great, I’m constantly flattered by fine gents and well, it was a great idea anyways, even if I don’t end up with my next boyfriend. I call it “Finding Love on Craigslist”. I’m sure it’s been called that by several people who have done this same social experiment (as I’ve noticed several people do it every day…).

Holidays went well, Briana has been home for almost a month, she leaves on the 3rd which makes me sad, but while she’s been here we’ve shared some great adventures. I started playing World of Warcraft again and gearing up to catch up has been quite the pain in the rear end or backside, whichever you prefer.

I suppose that will do it for now, enjoy the post! (That’s imparative!)

Nothing to see here!

Not today at least.

I’m planning on going to school early today to work on a horrible creation of English teachers called the research paper. Some part of it is due today in MLA form and since it’s been about 3 or so years since I took Eng101, I can’t recall how to do it! That’s just lovely.

Monday night I ended up sleeping over at my friend, Lisa’s house because after hookah, we were all just too tired. In the morning she drove me back to my house (my current apartment, that is) and waited for me to write my chemistry lab report to play World of Warcraft. Then she decided it would be a great idea to look through my bookmarks on Mozilla Firefox. She saw that I have Engrish.com bookmarked and went straight to it. We both laughed quite a bit at that crazy randomness of English in foreign non-English speaking countries. After the web browsing, we went out to lunch at Red Robin and I drank 3 glasses of strawberry lemonade. Oh, what was I thinking! Lisa then dropped me off at school and I went to digest as well as catch up with a few school buddies.

I went to type up a pre lab in the main computer lab where a lot of the ESL students hang out to do their web browsing and read e-mails. I went to print my paper, and someone was printing about 30 pages of stuff (Which, you’re not supposed to do) and I could not find my paper! I was 5 minutes late and about to reprint when someone behind me asks “Is this yours?”. Thankfully it was, I tried to staple it with the retarded auto stapler, gave up, then hurried off to class where I had missed about 10 minutes of lecture.

The lab yesterday was pretty daunting as it had lots of experiments to set up and do. Two of which were quite smelly. I got a headache about halfway through the lab and threw away something I actually needed for a later part of the lab. I asked a classmate if I could use some of his since we only needed a very small piece of it. I skipped out on the HCl + something else I can’t recall because I knew that if I heard the sound, I would probably drop my glassware and be fined, so I just watched off of someone else in the class (She did the experiment twice because the first time she didn’t get a loud sound and she wanted to hear it.). I finally finished up and went home with my huge headache and instead of watching a few hours of TV like a normal day, I just went right to bed.

If you’re asking if the headache was caused by the smell of stinky experiments, the answer is, no. I’m not quite sure what it was from, just hit me out of nowhere. Total bummer!

When mixing chemicals, always follow directions, or else you might put carcinogens in the trash, causing a problem for all! (no I didn’t do that, someone else did)

Come, let us ninja in the night!

Are ninjas in the night the same as strangers in the night? I wonder…could Sinatra be singing about two lonely dancing ninjas? That would be interesting, and weird.

Friday is the 23rd, know what that means? REPO! The Genetic Opera shadow cast Halloween event! My Halloween costume is almost complete. My dear friend Kuno dropped off my stitched-up pants and now all that’s left to do is tailor up the blazer to look more like a coat. Oh, and find the curling iron…(Which could be hard with all the moving that’s been going on this week).

Yesterday I took Jewel to Petsmart with Lisa. Jewel has gotten pretty skittish of people lately, which is of a huge concern of mine. We ran into her puppy class instructor who said I should bring her into the puppy class that started recently, just to get her used to people again. One thing that Jewel did upon my purchase of her bag of Authority dog food (Petsmart brand, pretty good stuff and inexpensive to boot!), she hid behind the cashier in the cashier stand and coward because of a shopping cart behind me. I really need to break her of this horrible habit because, since she’s deaf, I want people to know that deaf dogs aren’t unadoptable, but this behavior is causing her to show differently and it was due to my error that she’s acting this way! She’s getting a lot better on the leash at least. It’ll take some time but now that I’m a little more stable, shouldn’t be too difficult to work with her.

I need to study today. I didn’t get any studying done yesterday and I fear if I don’t study today I’ll be a bit behind in realizing what I’m supposed to do. I’m guessing I’ll probably read one chapter or two, then read my French assignment. Yeah that could work.

Off I go to do the studying! Up! Up! And away! **Warning** Do not attempt to jump out of windows under the impression that you can fly. Serious damage or death may result.

All the world’s a stage…

Says Shakespeare! Well, the stage is set and today’s costume for me is a pair of pajama bottoms and a t-shirt from Citrus College’s Anime Connection (back before my term as presidency and all that jazz).

Those who don’t know will now know that I am moving this week to Montclair, CA. I have my own room which is pretty snazzy, and cheesy mirrored closet doors! Three cheers for cheesy! Hip Hip Hooray! I say this because my morning has been all about packing and getting things out of the way so my parents don’t throw a fit. I think I’ve been pretty successful in my moving efforts, most definitely. Almost all of my stuff is out of here, which makes the room quite boring indeed.

I’m supposed to be studying chemistry today because I’m doing really poorly in the class even though I like the professor’s teaching methods and style. He’s an odd prof, for sure, but it’s quite refreshing to have someone so different. Actually as far as the most recent chapters after the first test, things are pretty simple. Calculating molar masses and drawing bonded atoms to form ions and compounds etc.

I spent my afternoon watching shows on discovery channel about how rats and bears (two separate shows) are taking over our cities and causing problems. Giant rats that can bring lots of diseases come into cities because people provide the best in food and shelter. Grizzlies are attacking humans in Alaska because they don’t have as many fish in the streams and some “genius” decided to put recreation pathways alongside streams and rivers. Bears love trash, and where there is lots of trash near wilderness areas (like pretty much all of Alaska…) there will be bears. Bear mauling is pretty scary, I’ll admit it, but some people get out of control about how horrible bears are. For example, this summer I went to a baby shower at a wilderness park in Monrovia, CA. Upon my entrance to the park I noticed people were running their children to their cars and in general pretty freaked out. When I got closer I noticed a bear. I thought to myself “Wow that’s a really realistic statue…” Then it moved, it wasn’t a statue! I walked up to the party and listened in on everyone talking. The way I see it was, the bear smelled bbq carne asada and wanted some too! Anyways, they called in the ranger who shooed off the bear and told everyone that it was most likely a young bear who’s mother might have been nearby but if he came down again to just make loud noises by clapping and shooing him off. I kept saying to everyone that I wasn’t scared because it was a black bear, pretty small too. If it had been a grizzly, which were once inhabitants of this area, then I’d be scared for sure. My point is, people are a little too scared of bears. I think the bears sense it and know they can get away with things. They’re not the smartest animals in the animal kingdom, but they’re smart enough to know that humans are scared. When being attacked by a bear, play dead. And when being attacked by chemistry homework…probably best not to play dead.

This is my dog (puppy, she’s still pretty young) in her sleep. Would it be even more funny if I told you she snores too?

Offical First Post

Did you know that song “He Lives in You” from the second Lion King movie was song by Tina Turner? I had no idea until just a second ago when I looked at my music player. The song came on and I was reminded of the 9th grade when a friend of mine told me she and her friends believed the lyrics were “Pink pajamas, naked on the bottom”, which is still pretty funny after quite a few years when listening to this song.

Yesterday I tried hookah for the first time and I really enjoyed it. We smoked it for around 3 hours. I had a crepe with Nutella, which brought me back to another high school memory, this one of my French classes. Today though, when I decided to do some research on smoking hookah, I got a bit paranoid because of this link (and a few others like it)  http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hookah/AN01265. I smoked enough smoke to have smoked over 300 cigarettes from what I was reading. Very scary! But, I don’t know, something tells me that if it’s in moderation it won’t be as bad. That phrase “You only live once” comes to mind. On one hand might as well enjoy it. On the other hand, if there are risks to carcinogens, you could live longer without smoking it. Maybe, just like in the very old tootsie roll pop commercials, “…the world may never know.” it’s all a matter of time I suppose.

Remember everyone, if you have to think too much bad stuff about something, you’ve probably sucked most of the fun out of it. Though sometimes it’s a nessasary evil, indeed. (there was supposed to be a hookah pun in there somewhere but I’ve given up on working on it. Hah!)

Welcome to my world, newcomers!

Hello and bienvenidos fellow world travelers or non-travelers, whatever your preference (NOTE: I do not speak Spanish, it was just a random greeting). This is me, writing about my life and probably the life of other people and most likely my dog, Jewel. I like lots of different things so I suppose this will be quite varied in what is written. Random is the best way is it not?

This is me and my friend Jon. The pose is classic. Thought you’d like to know what I look like behind the computer.
